Seven poets from across the Arab world showcased their talents during the sixth evening of the Sharjah Arabic Poetry Festival.
The poets included Hassan Shihab El Din (Egypt), Sawsan Dahneem (Bahrain), Abdullah Al Hadiyya (UAE), Salem Al Shaabani (Tunisia), Mohammed Shodab (Syria), Qusay Al Nabhani (Oman), and Ala Khadrou (Lebanon). The evening was moderated by Jordanian poet Abdullah Abu Bakr.
The event took place at the Sharjah Cultural Palace and was attended by His Excellency Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Owais, Chairman of the Department of Culture in Sharjah; Mr. Mohammed Ibrahim Al Qaseer, Director of Cultural Affairs; Mohammed Al Buraiki, Director of the House of Poetry; and a large audience of poets, intellectuals, and academics.
The poets explored a range of themes, from deep emotional and humanitarian topics to national subjects, offering the audience an insightful and heartfelt experience.
Egyptian poet Hassan Shihab El Din opened the evening with several powerful poems that reflected both humanitarian and philosophical themes.
Bahraini poet Sawsan Dahneem followed, reciting poems filled with warmth and nostalgia, each with a distinct title.
Tunisian poet Salem Al Shaabani captivated the audience with impromptu, unique poems.
Syrian poet Mohammed Shodab presented several poems, expressing profound feelings through eloquent language.
Omani poet Qusay Al Nabhani shared his poems, delivering them with a distinctive style and approach.
Lebanese poet Ala Khadrou closed the evening, leaving the audience in awe with her poetic talent.
At the end of the event, His Excellency Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Owais, Mr. Mohammed Ibrahim Al Qaseer, and Mr. Mohammed Al Buraiki honored the poets and the event’s moderator with certificates of appreciation for their exceptional readings, which deeply resonated with the audience.
