Sydney author Guy James Whitworth is set to launch his third book, Never Held A Gun, on January 16. This marks his first poetry collection, tackling themes such as toxic masculinity, queer identity, and global politics.
The launch event will feature live poetry readings and special guests. Whitworth invites attendees to join him for an evening celebrating his new work.
“I believe anyone entering politics should be required to write and read their own poetry publicly. It helps them truly understand the importance of standing by their words,” said Whitworth.
Though Whitworth has previously published two autobiographical books, he describes this poetry collection as a new and nerve-wracking experience. “Publishing my writing and artwork was intimidating, but poetry, especially exploring such personal topics like gender identity, has made me feel exposed and vulnerable like never before,” he shared.
