Kim Dower Launches New Poetry Collection: What She Wants

Kim Dower

Bestselling poet Kim Dower has released her latest collection, What She Wants: Poems on Obsession, Desire, Despair, Euphoria. The book explores the intense emotions of obsessive love with Dower’s trademark humor and insight.

Following the success of I Wore This Dress Today for You, Mom: Poems on Motherhood, Dower turns her attention to the world of limerence—an all-consuming infatuation. The poems are divided into four phases: Infatuation, Crystallization, Deterioration, and Ecstatic Release. Through her evocative language, Dower takes readers on an emotional journey of love’s highs and lows.

From the playful “She’ll do anything for food” to the tender “Fish’s Lament,” the poems reflect both the joy and pain of obsessive desire. Dower also explores the quirky side of love, with poems about longing and obsession—even with a squirrel.

The launch event will feature an introduction by Terry Wolverton and guest readings by poets Brendan Constantine and Steven Reigns.
