On Sunday, Dr. G Lakshmisa, the NTR district collector, paid floral tributes to poet Yogi Vemana at the district collector’s office on the occasion of his birth anniversary. In his speech, the collector emphasized that Vemana’s poems, though written over a thousand years ago, remain vibrant and full of life.
Dr. Lakshmisa praised Vemana’s far-reaching vision, noting that his verses offered guidance on how to live a meaningful life. He highlighted the widespread recognition of Vemana’s poem title, Viswadabhirama Vinura Vema, which is known to nearly every Telugu person.
The collector also acknowledged Vemana as a guiding light for many poets who followed in his footsteps. He encouraged modern poets to draw inspiration from Vemana’s work when creating literature. Dr. Lakshmisa urged students to study Vemana’s poems, memorize them, and gain a deeper understanding of the Telugu language.
Vemana’s philosophy, according to the collector, transcended narrow ideologies of caste and religion. District Revenue Officer Lakshmi Narasimham, DRDA Project Director K Srinivasa Rao, and other officials also attended the event.
