The Punjabi Literature and Art Society of Bedford, UK, recently hosted the launch of Roop Davinder Kaur’s poetry collection, Maun Da Transalan, at its inaugural literary event. Balwant Singh Gill of the Society welcomed attendees, while Balwinder Singh Chahal read a pamphlet detailing the book. Notable literary figures from Europe, including Jaspal Singh from Italy, Amzad Arfi from Germany, Gurpreet Kaur from Greece, and Jeet Surjeet from Belgium, participated alongside UK-based writers and members of the Punjabi community.
The event also featured several distinguished speakers who shared their thoughts on Kaur’s work, including Mahinderpal Singh Dhaliwal, Azim Shekhar, Baldev Singh Mastana, Mota Singh Sarai, MP Mohammad Yasin, Mayor Mohammad Niwaz, and others. Artists and community leaders such as Kulwant Kaur Dhillon, Kirpal Pooni, and Rajinderjit Sagu also offered their insights.
Kaur expressed her gratitude to the guests and shared some of her poems with the audience. The event was further enriched by an exhibition of paintings by Jatinder Singh Pattar, Rupadwinder, Nachhatar Singh Bhogal, and Amandeep Singh Glasgow, which complemented Kaur’s literary work.
The event’s stage management was overseen by Amandeep Singh Aman Glasgow, Mahinderpal Singh Dhaliwal, and Prabhjot Kaur Waraich, who kept the audience engaged throughout. Several other individuals, including Malkit Kaur, Paramjit Kaur Sandhawalia, Harbhajan Singh Nahl, and others, were in attendance. The evening concluded with poetry readings by the attending poets.
