Friends of Pinchgut Creek will host a free poetry workshop and guided hike on the Cahaba River Tree Trail in Trussville this Sunday, November 17, at 2 p.m. The event will take place at the city’s parks and recreation complex, where the trail is lined with towering Hickories, Oaks, Poplars, and Beech trees.
The fall colors and crisp air make November the perfect time to enjoy the natural beauty of the trail. Participants will be inspired by the stunning autumn leaves and the scenic river views.
Poets Tina Mozelle Braziel and James Braziel, authors of several books including their recently released Glass Cabin, will lead the poetry workshop. They will guide both seasoned poets and newcomers in crafting their work. Attendees will have the opportunity to write in the peaceful, wooded area along the river and share their poems with the group.
The hike will be led by Henry Hughes, a former Director of Education at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens and Executive Director of Friends of Shades Creek. Hughes, an expert on river and tree ecology, will provide an engaging tour of the area.
The event is free and open to all.
