Poetry of Desire: Virtual Workshop by The Poetry Society

Poetry of Desire

The Poetry Society of New York invites poetry enthusiasts to a virtual workshop, Poetry of Desire, led by renowned poet Bernadette McComish. This unique generative workshop explores the art of writing erotic poetry that blends boldness and tenderness, inspired by celebrated poets like e.e. cummings, Leonard Cohen, Mary Ruefle, and Carol Ann Duffy.

Participants will explore how language can dissolve boundaries and express the nuances of intimacy, longing, and connection. Through guided exercises and close readings, attendees will uncover the power of metaphor, rhythm, and imagery in crafting poetry that captures the complexities of desire. The workshop will also encourage experimenting with tone, ranging from playful and coy to raw and confessional, balancing vulnerability with artistic expression.

This session is designed to provide a safe and encouraging space for participants to read, write, and explore their creative boundaries. It celebrates curiosity and courage while fostering deeper connections through the art of poetry.
