The Department of English at AAAM Degree College, Bemina, hosted two extension lectures on “Creative Writing” on November 25, 2024. The event aimed to enhance the creative writing skills of students, featuring distinguished speakers.

The first session opened with a welcome address from Prof. Fauzia Durrani, Head of the Department of English. Mr. Ajaz Ul Haque, a producer at EMRC, University of Kashmir, delivered the first lecture. He discussed the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on creative writing today. He emphasized that writers should prioritize clarity, simplicity, and brevity, advising against over-reliance on AI. According to him, creative writing should first be clear before it becomes imaginative.

The second session featured Dr. Asiya Zahoor, Assistant Professor at GDC Baramulla, who presented on “The Craft of Poetry.” She stressed the importance of quality and content in poetry, urging students to uphold high standards in their writing. Her lecture provided valuable insights into the essential elements of creative writing and poetry.

After the lectures, students from the 1st, 3rd, and 5th semesters of English Literature engaged in lively discussions. Prof. Nayeem Ahmad Shah served as the rapporteur, while Dr. Tanveer Habeeb coordinated the event.
