Ramis Ryskulov’s 90th Anniversary Exhibition Opens in Bishkek

An exhibition titled “Precursor” by the People’s Poet and artist Ramis Ryskulov is currently on display at the Oak Park gallery of the Union of Artists in Bishkek. The exhibition features around 40 works, including paintings and graphics, created over the years.

The event celebrates the 90th anniversary of Ryskulov’s birth. Born on September 9, 1934, Ryskulov was a prominent member of the Union of Writers of the USSR from 1959 and a member of the Union of Artists of the Kyrgyz Republic since 1990. He authored several poetry collections and was known for his innovative contributions to Kyrgyz Soviet poetry, particularly through his use of blank verse. Ryskulov also translated works by famous Russian writers such as Alexander Pushkin, Vladimir Mayakovsky, Nikolai Nekrasov, and Andrei Voznesensky into Kyrgyz.

Ryskulov passed away on January 26, 2021. The exhibition will remain open until November 29.
