Renowned American poet Billy Collins will visit Warren County Community College on Thursday, December 5, as part of his national tour.
Collins, former U.S. Poet Laureate, will read from his latest collection, Water, Water: Poems, during the college’s Visiting Author Series. The event will take place at 6 p.m. in room E206, followed by a Q&A session with the audience.
This event is open to the public, and Frenchtown Bookshop will be on-site selling Collins’ books.
Released in November by Penguin Random House, Water, Water: Poems is Collins’ most recent work. The college described him as “one of the most beloved poets in America,” noting his blend of critical acclaim and wide popular appeal, a distinction often compared to that of Robert Frost.
Collins is the author of several celebrated poetry collections, including Questions About Angels, The Art of Drowning, Sailing Alone Around the Room, Nine Horses, and Horoscopes for the Dead. His books Aimless Love: New and Selected Poems 2003-2013, The Rain in Portugal, Whale Day and Other Poems, and Musical Tables were New York Times bestsellers.
A former New York State Poet Laureate, Collins served as the U.S. Poet Laureate from 2001 to 2003. In 2016, he was elected to the American Academy of Arts and Letters.
