Oscar Fuentes

Miami-based poet Oscar Fuentes will headline the next “Poets in the Park” event, part of the Key Biscayne Poetry Share program, on November 15 at 6:30 p.m. in Paradise Park.

Poetry Share, launched last year, aims to encourage local writers to explore the art of poetry. The inaugural event, held at Paradise Park, brought together many locals who wrote “gems”—16-word, 7-line, diamond-shaped poems.

As the second season begins, Fuentes, known as The Biscayne Poet, will bring nearly 30 years of writing experience to the program. Fuentes, a multidisciplinary artist born in Manhattan to immigrant parents from Honduras, is the author of 10 books of poetry and prose, including Beautiful Women Will Never Know (2013), 4 Nights With Betsy (2014), and Vagabond: Selected Poems, Short Stories, and Plays.
