Two students from Presentation Secondary School in Tralee are celebrating after being selected for the All-Ireland Poetry Aloud final. Naledi Hlongwane and Saoirse Murphy will compete in the prestigious event, which takes place on Friday, December 13, at the National Library of Ireland in Dublin.

Naledi will represent the school in the Senior Category, while Saoirse returns to the final in the Intermediate Category, having qualified once again this year.

This achievement adds to the school’s success in the Poetry Aloud competition, with previous winners including Naledi’s sister, who took home the Junior Final prize, and Kiah Townsend, who won the Intermediate Final in past years.

Poetry Aloud is a poetry recitation competition open to all post-primary students across Ireland. It is organized by the National Library of Ireland and Poetry Ireland, with funding from University College Cork (UCC).

Principal Máiread Finucane expressed her pride in the students, wishing them the best of luck ahead of the final. “This is a great achievement for the school, and we wish our girls every success as they embark on this journey,” she said.
