A literary event was held in Srinagar to unveil Sukoot-e-Shab, a poetry collection by Rakshanda Rashid. The event also featured the presentation of the Fareed Parbati Memorial Awards for 2024.
The event was organized by Koh Maaran, a quarterly Urdu magazine, and took place under the leadership of renowned broadcaster and writer Rukhsana Jabeen. Professor Nasir Mirza, Dr. Satish Vimal, Jauhar Quddusi, Dr. Kausar Rasool, and Dr. Nazir Mushtaq were also in attendance.
During the event, Jauhar Quddusi and Suhail Salim presented reviews of Rashid’s book. Both reviews praised the depth and literary quality of Rashid’s poetry.
In addition to the book launch, the Fareed Parbati Memorial Awards were presented. The awardees included Rakshanda Rashid, Wajida Tabassum, Dr. Shah Faisal, Mohammad Yaseen Ganai, and Babr Wani. The ceremony was attended by prominent poets, literary figures, and dignitaries from the region.
In her speech, Rukhsana Jabeen congratulated Rashid for her literary accomplishments and paid tribute to her late husband, Dr. Abdul Rasheed, for his role in supporting her career. Jabeen also spoke about the significance of supportive men in society, particularly in helping women realize their potential.
The event also saw warm acknowledgments for Suhail Salim, the chief editor of Koh Maaran, and Zubair Qureshi for organizing the event. Rashid’s children, Dr. Shahid Rasheed and Dr. Rehana, were commended for their steadfast support of their mother’s work.
Several attendees, including Bashir Dada, Riyaz Masroor, Altaf Qawi, and Mushtaq Barq, shared their thoughts and reflections during the event. Jauhar Quddusi also announced the establishment of the Late Dr. Abdul Rasheed Foundation, aimed at contributing to the betterment of society.
