At January 30, 2025 at 7:00 PM, SalonHVWC will kick off its Masters of Craft Poetry Series with a lecture by Dorianne Laux, an award-winning poet and beloved professor. This series features five renowned poets who will share insights on the craft of poetry, drawing from their decades of experience. Unlike typical workshops, these monthly lectures offer uninterrupted access to some of today’s most respected poets, allowing attendees to benefit from their wisdom over the course of five months.

The lectures will be held via Zoom from 7:00 to 8:00 PM EST. Participants will receive the Zoom link upon registration and a reminder the day before each lecture.

Dorianne Laux’s sixth collection, Only As the Day is Long: New and Selected Poems, was a finalist for the 2020 Pulitzer Prize for Poetry. Her previous works include The Book of Men, which won The Paterson Prize, and Facts About the Moon, which earned The Oregon Book Award. She is also the author of What We Carry, a finalist for the National Book Critics Circle Award, and The Poet’s Companion, co-authored with Kim Addonizio. Her latest collection, Life On Earth, was released in January 2024 and was longlisted for the National Book Award. Additionally, Laux’s Finger Exercises for Poets, a book of craft essays and exercises, was published in July 2024.
