Sixth Bantwal Taluk Short Poetry Convention Set for December 29

The Sixth Bantwal Taluk Short Poetry Convention will take place on December 29 at the Suvarna Rangamandira of Vittal Pre-University College. The event will be organized by the Taluk Chutuku Sahitya Parishat, with Mulya Shankar Bhat presiding. Rajaram Verma, secretary of the reception committee, shared the details at a press conference.

The convention will be inaugurated by M G R Arasu, general secretary of the Short Poetry Council’s central committee. The inauguration ceremony will include the lighting of a lamp, with members of the royal family of Vitla in attendance. The event will be held on the Ravi Varma Krishnaraja Arasu stage at the Janardhana Pai auditorium in Palimar.

Before the inauguration, a procession will be flagged off by town panchayat president Karunakar Naitthottu. Vishwanath Bantwal, president of the Taluk Kannada Sahitya Parishat, will lead the Kannada flag hoisting, while Harish Sulaya, president of the district Short Poetry Council, will hoist the Short Poetry Council flag. Muguli Thirumaleshwar Bhat, president of the Vitla Education Society, will open the exhibition stalls.

The event will also include book releases, a short poetry session for children, a senior poets’ session, panel discussions, and felicitation programs for achievers. Cultural performances such as Yakshagana Tala Maddale will add to the celebration. The convention will conclude with a valedictory address by Narasimha Verma, legal officer of the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation and a member of the royal family of Vitla.

The press conference was also attended by Mohan Gurjinadka, treasurer of the reception committee, Anand Rai Adkasthala, president of the Taluk Short Poetry Council, and vice president Vishnugupta Punacha.
