The 30th death anniversary of renowned poetess Parveen Shakir is being observed today.
Shakir began writing at a young age, creating both prose and poetry. She contributed columns to Urdu newspapers and penned articles for English dailies.
Her contributions to literature earned her the Pride of Performance award.
Shakir’s popular works include Sad-barg, Khud Kalami, and Inkar, which were later compiled in the book Mah-e-Tamam.
She tragically passed away in a road accident in Islamabad in 1994 at the age of 42.
