The position is honorary and has a two-year term. The seventh Fresno Poet Laureate will serve from April 2025 to March 2027.

To be eligible, nominees must be local residents and distinguished poets. Detailed information about eligibility, expectations, and how to submit a nomination can be found on the Fresno Arts Council website.

Submissions will be accepted until 11:59 p.m. on January 24, 2025. An independent committee will review the nominations in February 2025, and the new Poet Laureate will be announced in April 2025.
