Award-winning poet Simon Armitage and his band, LYR, will perform in York for one night only this January. The event will take place at the York Theatre Royal on January 24.

The evening will feature a poetry reading by Simon Armitage, followed by a live performance from LYR. The band includes Simon, singer-songwriter Richard Walters, and multi-instrumentalist Patrick Pearson.

LYR was formed in 2009 after Richard Walters approached Armitage’s publisher for a potential collaboration. Following the success of their initial partnership, the group was formed with the addition of Patrick Pearson. Since then, LYR has released two critically acclaimed albums.

The band has garnered over five million plays on streaming platforms and has performed at major festivals, sold-out shows, and tours across the UK.
